INTECH Investment Management LLC (“INTECH”), an independently managed indirect subsidiary of Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE: JNS), is a global investment management firm with a record of mathematically driven equity investing spanning more than 25 years, having managed large-cap equity portfolios since 1987. INTECH offers equity investors highly disciplined, mathematical investment strategies that attempt to achieve long-term returns in excess of the target benchmark, while reducing the risk of significant underperformance relative to the benchmark. More recently, INTECH has launched a suite of absolute volatility strategies that focus on reducing the absolute volatility of portfolios and/or generating higher Sharpe Ratios than cap-weighted indices. INTECH’s strategies are based on a rigorous mathematical theory that is the result of research conducted by Dr. E. Robert Fernholz, Chairman of the Investment Committee, and published in his 1982 paper, “Stochastic Portfolio Theory and Stock Market Equilibrium.” As of December 31, 2012, INTECH had approximately $40.1 billion in assets under management and 78 employees.
